Hi everyone!
So, unfortunately, I misplaced my battery charger for my Sony NEX-3 Camera.
I was wondering, is there an alternative charger? Like a cord or something? Perhaps something that comes WITH the camera package?
PLEASE HELP!

The only charger that will properly charge your Sony battery is the Sony charger. They are not cheep, but you will get the most from your battery with them.

This is my Brand New Sony Handycam DCR-SX45 that I have got today at Wal-mart for around 0 – 0. The camera itself was 0, then I bought a separate memory card for the camcorder which holds 8 GB. Even though I did have a Memory Stick from my PSP, I wanted to have only one for the camcorder so I’d be a bit more organized. You did not state which CyberShot cam you have but here is the answer anyway. The 5 volts in the USB port is NOT regulated, nor is it able to monitor the charging rate to the Li-ion battery, its temperature and other important factors when an Li-ion battery is being charged. I believe many of the CyberShot batteries are 3.7v and 5v would overheat it, especially with it still in the camera. There is a reason Li-ion batteries are charged outside the camera … to keep it cooler while charging.

By USB camera cord I mean the end that connects to the camera, not the end that connects to the computer. I realise that the USB port is universal, it’s the camera end that I want to know if it is universal too

Maybe.

I say this because there are at least three different USB to camera cords. The USB/computer end is universal, but the USB to camera can be very different.

Solution?

Buy a USB card reader and leave the cameras out of the loop all together.
