I have a Sony Digital Camera that came with a Software CD. I loaded it onto my computer, but when I go to open it, it says I need to install “Macromedia Flash Player” in order to use (or even look at the Sony Menu for my Camera).

Assuming you are in the administrator account, first check Add/Remove Programs to see if you have Adobe or Macromedia Flash installed. If yes uninstall them using the new Uninstaller provided by Adobe and reboot (some computers require a reboot to completely uninstall programs)

Then try to download the Flash player again from the following site:

This is my kit, two cameras and an ancient brass tripod I bought secondhand many years ago.

The Sony P72 is a whole 3 megapixels and 5 years old, in which time it has been used for about 6000 shots, is built and weighs like a small brick, and has a slightly sticky lens shield mechanism having rolled around the bottom of my shoulder bag for years. Despite this it can still take some demon shots and is remarkably easy to use.

The Nikon is much newer, has a better flash and is a fraction of the weight and size of the Sony, but is more annoying to use with its trickier menu system and blurred shot warning.

Other than that, I use GIMP photo editing software, which is adequate for my editing abilities and free to download.

Anything else is whatever comes to hand from my surroundings, especially my wife’s wardrobe

I have a Mac, am wanting to use footage from a Sony Hard Drive camcorder, and I could only get the footage to download to a Sony PC. When I try to open the files on a mac, it tells me that the file is not a movie file. It’s listed as an .mpg …So can I convert that to work on my Mac with any free or affordable software?

I have a Sony Handycam DCR-DVD108, it uses mini DVDs and DOES NOT HAVE A FIREWIRE PORT. I do not currently own the Picture Motion Browser CD which is needed to transfer videos from the DVD to the computer. I use a USB cable but that still does not work. I used Windows movie maker that didn’t work. So my two questions are, Is there anywhere I can download the Sony Picture Motion Browser for free other than limewire? And if not, Is there any other way i can get videos off my camera onto the computer? Just because it bears repeating, THIS CAMERA DOES NOT HAVE A FIREWIRE PORT. Thanks to anyone who can help.

So you don’t have a firewire!! LOL

As long as you have a tray type DVD drive in your computer you can put the dvd in it and use video conversion software to get it onto your computer.

If you use windows explorer to look at the dvd and you have two folders one called Video_ts and the other audio_ts then copy the video_ts folder to your drive, then open it rename all the files ending in VOB to MPG, Windows movie maker will then import them. I have to do this sometimes when I edit dvd’s for customers.

No such thing.

You have a tape based camera, it need firewire to capture the video directly from the camera.

Go to your Device manager (windows PC) and see if you have a device called IEEE1394 (same as firewire)

If its there you only need a cable normally a 4 to 6 pin firewire cable. just plug the camera into the cable and then into your computer turn the camera to play and windows will do the rest. open windows movie maker and go to capture, follow the screens to capture the video.
