Comparison of Panasonic AG-HPX172 vs Sony PMW-EX1R

A Comparison of the Panasonic HPX172 with the Sony EX1r with respect to low light handling, dynamic range and depth of field. The outdoor shots were done within 10 secs of each other. The indoor shots demonstrate the superior shallow depth of field from the 1/2 inch Sony compared to the flat wedding video like Panasonic. XF305 vs EX1R Low Light Comparison

www.videolifestyle.com http did a simple low light test pitting the XF305 with my EX1r and here are the results. I must add that the XF305 is really awesome in terms of the large and very high definition LCD screen which is a welcome improvement from Canon. The gain is pretty impressive even at 18db as well as also the fact the lens is a much brighter lens. As you can see i had not done any white balance as well leaving the camera very much to its auto WB the Canon always produce you warmer colours all the time since even the days of the Xl1s etc,,, the only thing i may just like to add that i dislike the XF about is the fact the ZOOM is pretty irresponsive not reacting to your command instantly. instant auto focus is awesome as always and most of all the three types of stabilizing systems to choose from is simple a welcome with 18X optical zoom capabilities. Again the grip as i mentioned is not all that comfortable reminding me very much of the first EX1. However, for 1/3rd inch sensors pretty impressive IMO.

Canon XF300 vs Sony EX1 Low Light test

Sony PMW EX1 vs Canon XF300 low light test I had a chance to shoot some side by side footage with the cams, the Sonys seems to be a stop faster than the Canon The footage was shot 1080 24p 48 with iris wide open. The Canon is lighter than the EX1 with a better (CG ) center of gravity its very well balanced. I like the lens better on the EX1 its a better feel to me. The Canons 4.0-inch color with 1230000 dots is a huge improvement over the G1s and the A1s model. It opens to the left or right, as well as rotating and tilting forward 35°. XF300 is 00 and XF305 is 00. XF305 carrying the HD-SDI out, GENLOCK and Timecode. Do not count on any big discounts the Canon rep that a spoke said There is not a bid margin for discounts for resellers. I got a chance to shoot some Rez and color charts courtesy of Canon. The XF300 displayed lines up to approx. 1200. There was no IR contamination in the blacks on the color chart and there was clear delineation in the color spectrum. On the side by side footage you can see the guys black jacket looks brownish on the Sony Ex1 vs. Black with the Canon XF300. The Canon XF300 that a shoot with was a prototype model. I could not get the white balance to work on the XF300. The low light performance was good on the XF300 and may be better once the Production models come out. Then new Canons are great cameras but I do not thing I will be selling my EX1 and EX3 maybe adding a Nano Flash and would not be surprised if Sony did not come out with a
